Isimila Stone Age Park

Isimila

Wow! This is a great resource. There are stone age tools here from 400,000 years ago, first discovered here by University of Chicago archeologists in the 1950s. Next year a team from the University in Dar es Salaam will do their first dig here.

Besides interesting tools, the terrain is fabulous. There are tall columns where water and wind have eroded the sandstone leaving them behind. Like sunset, and despite the reasonable quality of the photos, it is impossible to translate the grandeur to film. But I keep trying to do the sunsets anyway.

Dad,
It is so wonderful to get to find out about your travels while you are still there. I try to day dream the grandure into the pictures so I can feel like I am there too. It is a nice escape from the hum drum here. The weather has been a bit dreary the past few days. The sun had finally poked out today. I am looking forward to a day off tomorrow. I will be working on my yard as well as running a few errands. hum drum. Hug mom and gramma. I love you and miss you.

For some reason my other comment didn't post...so let me try this again.

I really enjoy hearing about your trip while you are engaged in the activities, I echo everything Carly mentioned in her comment.

I showed Caden the safari pictures this morning and he was pretty impressed. I am sure that he will enjoy looking at more pictures when you get home, as will Jenny and I. Maybe not all of them 700+?!?

Some local updates... Hurricane Ike wreaked havoc on the Texas gulf coast 4.5 million people still without power. Pretty amazing pictures.

The Vikings are 0-2 with losses to the Packers and Colts.

Twins are still in the hunt they are 1.5 games behind the ChiSox with 13 games to go.

Tell Mom that Carly and I visited Grandpa. He was in good spirits, and pretty chatty. We ordered him new Ugg slippers, a size bigger, to accommodate his toes w/socks.

I am in Kansas City this week for work. Nothing much else to report.

Give hugs as required. Be kind to the animals. Don't litter.

Love Christopher
